I should be upset, but I'm not

Yesterday was weigh in day at Jenny Craig. Last week I lost 3 pounds. Not sure how, but it happened. I had a hunch that I wouldn't lose any poundage this week. Number one, I've been doing this diet for so long, I've been cheating a bit here and there, just out of boredom. My Jenny consultant has assured me that this is normal, I just have to spice up the Jenny meals in some way to add variety. So, I went in, weighed myself, and...I gained 1.6 pounds. Please note, on my scale I stayed the same, but I have to go off the Jenny scale for official weight results. Even so, I've lost a total of 20 pounds since starting my diet. I'm skinnier than I was BEFORE getting pregnant. To be exact, I'm back to my college weight. I'm just not fitting into my college jeans. But I will. Apparently when you have a baby, your body shifts in different ways. Crazy. So, here are the latest pics:

I wish I had thought to take before pictures, but I was so ashamed of my body that I didn't do it. I definitely notice a difference though, especially in my face. Here is a VERY bad picture of Andy and I from college and I think I look much smaller now than I did then.
This week I am sticking to my Jenny plan and hopefully I'll see those numbers go down. Only 5 more pounds until I hit my original goal!

play date = success!

Who ever invited the idea of a play date is genius! We officially made our way to our first play date, thanks to the acceptance of our new meetup group. The event: Pajama Storytime at the library. SUCCESS! First of all, Logan was dressed in his most adorable pj's. Those would be the dinosaur ones with dinosaur feet. Second, he loved listening to the story. Not a cry or whine came out of him. There were a few throaty laughs, but I'll admit that I was egging him on for those, along with one of the moms. We met a few moms and kids. Most importantly, we met a mom that not only worked for my school district, but also lives around the corner from us. SCORE! Her son is 3 months and we've already exchanged numbers in the hope that our families meet up sometime out of the play group setting. I think I may be more excited about this than Logan. Although I know he interacts with the little ones at his daycare, I can't wait to actually see him playing with another little boy. Our next play date will be happening next Friday at the Children's Museum. Free and tons of fun!

Productive

I think this word actually fits me today. Very strange, something I'm not used to.

I had a neurologist appointment in the afternoon, which meant a half day at school. Remember how you used to LOVE half days when you were a kid? Well, we teachers LOVE them to. Normally I have boring meetings on half days, but today I was free. Kind of. I drove myself home, and promptly finished my lesson plans that were not finished from last night. I also threw a load of laundry in the washer. At approximately 2 pm I drove to the neurologist, he checked my stats, said that my ms is a-ok, and took my $40 for payment. I then picked up my darling child from daycare, freeing Tricia a whole hour and a half earlier than usual, and we headed to Fry's for some groceries. Shopping was finished and groceries were put away by 5:30, Andy came home, and we were able to relax.

Seriously, I think I need to look into this part time teacher thing. If I'm able to get this much done everyday, my life might be a little less stressful. Less stress is worth the pay cut to me. Happy Monday!

Making new friends...hopefully

Although Andy and I LOVE our friends that we have out here in Arizona, we have started to realize that we are a bit different from them. Case in point: We have a baby. I have a couple of friends that are pregnant right now, but that's about it. It's really hard when everyone is going to the bar for happy hour or to see a way cool band, and we opt to stay home with the L man. We're not upset about it, I mean, we planned for Logan to come along (although I had planned for a baby of a different gender...someday perhaps). With our planning, we knew things would change and this just happens to be one of them. So...I've decided to take matters into my own hands and join a play date group. The first one we tried to join declined our application. Yes, that's correct, we had to apply. They apparently are lucky enough to be stay at home parents and meet during the day. Alas, I am not. We quickly tried to find another group...and we're in! I'm incredibly excited about this. We've already RSVP'd to 3 events, one of which is happening next week. The McKenna's will be heading to the Glendale Public Library for some story time and meeting of friends. Let's hope Logan gets along with everyone!

A future model or star perhaps?

Logan is just too cute for words. I know I'm always bragging about the little guy, but his 6 month pictures prove it. We were so afraid that he was going to be a grump today when we took him in. He was screaming in the car, had a nasty scowl on his face, and was just in a down right bad mood. I actually told Andy to turn the car around and we'd reschedule. Man, did the little guy prove me wrong. He was such a ham! The proof is in the picture:

Can you tell what his favorite face is?

eeeee!!!!

We have two followers of the blog. This has just made my day. And, just to make it a little sweeter, 3 comments...in one day! It doesn't take much to make me smile.

Oh, and an added bonus. The doc said today that the L man is perfectly on point with his health. He's a whopping 17 lbs 10 oz, along with 27 in. But please, remember, he's a mixture of myself and Andy. Skinny isn't exactly a word I would use to describe either of us. Even so, he's actually right around the 50th percentile for weight and the 75th for height. Not sure how the height thing is happening. No tall peeps in our family. It amazes me that he grew three inches in a month. Yes, a month. We may need to move into a new car seat with the long legs he's sprouting. Oh, the joys of spending money...

The cuteness that is Logan

Since I have the most adorable son in the entire world, I decided I should enter him in a photo contest. Why not earn prizes for that cute mug of his? The Paper Mama has a water theme for this week's contest. Here is the picture I chose of Logan and I, one of my fav's!
Look how dinky he is! It's hard to believe that my little 6 month old man was ever that small. Yes, you heard me correctly, 6 months. As in, a half of a year. I know. Crazy. Here are the 6 month pics:
Just a few interesting tidbits:
  • Logan is eating solid foods, more specifically, peaches and ::ugh:: peas. Apparently foods that start with the letter "p" make babies poop.
  • Weight is around 16 pounds. We'll have a more exact estimate tomorrow at his 6 month checkup
  • We officially have a sitter. He seems to lean forward a bit when doing it, but it's happening.
  • He loves to be on his belly, both when awake and when asleep. When he's having tummy time he's trying to pull himself places. I'm afraid he'll be crawling soon.
  • He LOVES bath time, or anything that has to do with water. Splashing is a favorite.
Overall, Andy and I just lucky to have such a happy baby. Each day when I pick him up from daycare, Tricia raves about how happy he is and how much she loves having him at her house. We are proud to say that we made this little guy.
