I should be upset, but I'm not

Yesterday was weigh in day at Jenny Craig. Last week I lost 3 pounds. Not sure how, but it happened. I had a hunch that I wouldn't lose any poundage this week. Number one, I've been doing this diet for so long, I've been cheating a bit here and there, just out of boredom. My Jenny consultant has assured me that this is normal, I just have to spice up the Jenny meals in some way to add variety. So, I went in, weighed myself, and...I gained 1.6 pounds. Please note, on my scale I stayed the same, but I have to go off the Jenny scale for official weight results. Even so, I've lost a total of 20 pounds since starting my diet. I'm skinnier than I was BEFORE getting pregnant. To be exact, I'm back to my college weight. I'm just not fitting into my college jeans. But I will. Apparently when you have a baby, your body shifts in different ways. Crazy. So, here are the latest pics:

I wish I had thought to take before pictures, but I was so ashamed of my body that I didn't do it. I definitely notice a difference though, especially in my face. Here is a VERY bad picture of Andy and I from college and I think I look much smaller now than I did then.
This week I am sticking to my Jenny plan and hopefully I'll see those numbers go down. Only 5 more pounds until I hit my original goal!

New weight, new clothes

The past few weeks I've been fluctuating up and down with the weight. I will admit, I may have cheated a bit on some days. For me, repetition can become boring and I was getting bored with my Jenny Craig food. Even so, this week I buckled down and didn't cheat, resulting in another pound lost! I've lost 16 pounds and am only 10 pounds away from my original goal weight. Almost there! With the new weight comes a few problems. Namely, some of my old clothes are becoming very baggy. With school starting up, I decided to treat myself with some new clothes. I've been afraid to buy anything new because I know that I want to keep losing, and let's face it, I'm cheap. Even so, I headed to Ross with two things on my mind: khaki capris and black capris. I found the khaki ones, along with a new top and a very cute yellow dress. My shopping desire was fulfilled. I even found an old pair of black capris in a dresser that had a hole in the leg, which I think I'm going to patch up. I feel like a little kid buying new school clothes. Instead, I'm the adult teacher buying the clothes for school. At least I'll be cute!

I now weigh the same amount as I did when I moved to AZ!

New addition...

No, we're not preggo again. I don't think I could handle that at this moment. However, we did just welcome a new addition to the family. Please meet our new elliptical!
Andy and I pondered over whether or not we should buy a home elliptical. First of all, our house is not the largest in the world. We also both have memberships to a gym. My gym is right around the corner and Andy goes to the one by his job. The gym has been perfect for the summer. I've waited until Andy gets home from work and then went to work out at around 8:00 or so. However, with school looming around the corner, I knew this routine wouldn't last long. You may not know this, but as a teacher I bring my work home on most nights. Yes, I know. For the measly amount that they pay me this should not be the case. So...I was crunching the numbers. I could wake up at 5 am, get to the gym by 5:30, work out for an hour, get home by 6:45, shower, but by then it would be 7:45, which is the time I'm supposed to be at work. And there is no way in hell that I am waking up earlier than 5 am. I have a 5 month old, I don't get enough sleep as it is. The other option would be to work out after school, which would be feasible, until I factor in how much work I normally bring home, plus having to take care of the babe and spend time with Andy... there just aren't enough hours in the day to have either of these options happen. Which is how we came to the solution of purchasing the elliptical.

Andy used his strong muscles to put it together yesterday and today I mulled up the courage to be the first one to actually work out on it. Usually at the gym I will do an interval workout where it's easy for 2 minutes, then hard for 2 minutes, 30 minutes total. This machine kicked my butt so hard I couldn't even do that! My knees were giving out and I was COMPLETELY out of breath within 4 minutes of running. So I just gave in and did a manual workout, which still kicked my arse. This can be proven with the following pictures:

Please notice the gross sweat that has gathered at my collar, as well as the pajama pants I wore to work out in rather than workout pants. Another benefit of working out at home. I know I said I would post pics of what I look like since starting to lose weight. These are the newest, and I would like to point out that the shirt I'm wearing used to be tight on me.

So, happy early anniversary to my husband and I, and welcome to the family new elliptical. I hope we have a bright future together.

The results are in...

I've lost 15 pounds!!! Can you believe it? I officially hit my half way mark at Jenny Craig and was rewarded with $50 off my food for the week. What a bonus! I'm still a little dumb founded that I've lost that much. I actually had to go and buy a new pair of capris and Bermuda shorts. I'm almost confident enough to wear actual shorts out of the house, but I'm not quite there yet, the legs still need a little toning. Andy keeps commenting on how skinny I look and I think that's confidence enough to help me keep going. He's thinking about joining the program and I think it'll be a lot easier to lose it if we're doing it together. I'll post some before and after pictures tonight when I can get the hubs to take some.

In other news...Logan rolled over! He's been working on it for awhile. He could get himself up on his side, but the actual roll to the stomach wasn't happening. Finally, last night he gave a valiant effort and made it! I was sad that Andy was grocery shopping and missed the epic roll, but we called him immediately to share the news. When he went to get Logan out of his crib this morning, he found him on his tummy again, head up in the air. He doesn't know how to get back over yet, but I know that will come soon. Watch out, the L man is becoming mobile. This may be the time to start baby proofing the house.

Back to Pre-Logan weight!

I have officially returned to pre-Logan weight. Jenny Craig, although I have never officially met you, you are my new best friend. We are told to reward ourselves every time we meet some sort of goal. The only catch is that we can't reward ourselves with food. In my mind losing ten pounds should be rewarded with some ice cream...preferably some chunky monkey or coldstone, but really, I'll take what I can get. Alas, this will not happen. Instead, I took my slightly smaller booty over to Hobby Lobby and picked up some new scrapbooking supplies. Since I've been home for summer break I've been trying to catch up on Logan's scrapbook that I started when he was born. I'm now up to my baby shower pictures, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I should probably also get back to that wedding album I started almost 3 years ago...

With that in mind, it is true, I am officially on summer break. And I'm loving it. One snafu...Logan doesn't realize it's summer break. Summer break means sleeping in. Never getting out of my pajamas. Lounging on the couch. The pajamas and couch part is easy enough to manage, but the sleeping in is the part we're still working on. And, as we all know, I LOVE sleep. Perhaps one day I'll be able to sleep in again. Even without the sleeping in, I already feel much more relaxed. It's nice to know that I don't have to complete any lesson plans for next week. I have each day open without a list of things I should accomplish. All I need to do is clean a room or two a day, feed the L man, play with him, and change his diapers. It's very doable. Do you know that in other countries around the world I could still be on maternity leave and be getting paid for staying at home with my son? We really need to get on that USA. In the meantime, I'll take my two months of summer and stop complaining.

The goal for this weekend is to take little man swimming in the fun pool in our subdivision. I'm a little scared that his little swimmers are going to be too big for him, since they don't really make his size. Updates on the swimming adventure to come!

It's time for a change

Change is good, it's wonderful! And I am jumping on the bandwagon. Before having Logan I was not too happy with my body. You see, Andy really likes to eat out and when he and I started dated, we both started eating out A LOT. I was always proud of myself for not gaining the freshman 15. Instead, I gained it during my senior year of college. While back in Michigan we started counting calories and eating tons and tons of pickles (0 calories=free food). The result was a whopping 30 pounds lost. Yay me! Then we moved to Arizona and were introduced to wonderful Mexican food on every corner...and then came Logan. I was left 15 pounds heavier than I had been back in Michigan and absolutely hating getting dressed in the morning. I know that during the majority of the day I have little kids looking at my clothes and I really should not be self-conscious about how I look, but there are times when I venture out of the classroom and speak with other adults, ones that are much smaller than me. Hence the self-conscious vibe. So, I decided that I was tired of being over weight and blaming it on something to make me feel better, and I joined Jenny Craig. I'm a little over a week into the program and so far so good. The food is actually tasty and I like having to go in and talk with someone every week. I think this helps me to not cheat because I'm not good at lying and would most likely feel guilty. I do miss burger king, and especially chipotle, but there are ways I can go there and still stick to the plan. So far I'm down about 2 pounds. Only 28 more to go!

In other news, my last paper for my Master's class is due tomorrow. I then have 5 days to finish my portfolio and I am officially a graduate of Walden University with a master's degree! If only I could celebrate with food :(
